Welcome to the July Pinto Post!

Welcome to the 12th edition of the Pinto Post! WOW, for a whole year this little newsletter has been documenting and highlighting all the work being done to protect and preserve the wild horses of the Virigina Range. A full year of touching family reunions, nail-biting rescues, and committed fertility control volunteers trekking miles to administer humane birth control. A full year of range improvement projects and diversionary feedings, all critical pieces of the puzzle that keeps the Virigina Range horses free. Thank you all for the tales (or tails!) that inspire and motivate us to do good and continue to step up for wild horses! We look forward to another year of writing and sharing all the volunteers’ successes and stories from the range.

Our next issue will come out August 1, so please submit articles, ideas and feedback by August 20th to ThePintoPost@gmail.com or through this Google Form.

Fertility Control Program Continues On

In a perfect world, wild horses would roam the West without human intervention. Unfortunately, this is not a perfect world. Learn about why PZP is a solution below. Be sure to check in for the most updated fertility control numbers as well!

Special thanks this month to the all the incredible volunteers who make this program happen. Their dedication and love for the horses shines through their hard work. Thank YOU.

Monthly Highlights

Psst! These foals are telling us it’s time for monthly highlights! This month, the volunteer spotlight shines on Johnny Tackas, aka “Hollywood.” Check out his story and how he got his glamorous nickname below.

Along with wonderful volunteers, there are so many fantastic horses on the Virginia Range. From hard working dads trying to keep his kids in line to three generations of family still living together. The Pinto Post is honored to tell their stories.

Happy Tails Rescues

The Least Resistance Training Concepts (LRTC)’s rescue team has been very busy. This month, they’ve completed impressive bachelor stallion rescues, and have an exciting new team development. Read on to learn about these stories as well as for Goliath update!

Please use the above number if you see horses or foals injured, sick, or at risk. Where does your call go? Your call goes to a 24/7 answering service that will connect with an on-call volunteer. From there volunteers, proper agencies and organizations will be dispatched. This includes, but is not limited to, local organizations, a large animal rescue team, and the sheriff's office in the corresponding area.
