Welcome to the June Pinto Post!

Welcome to the first summer edition of the Pinto Post. We are all feeling the heat, but volunteers press on. Darting and documenting teams have been diligently administering fertility control treatments, rescue teams show up at all hours for horses in need, the range management group continues to manage the range for the protection and health of the Virigina Range horses. Team work makes the dream work, and the dream is working for the Virginia Range Horses.

This month transport yourself to our corner of the wild west through stories of rescue and so much more!

Our next issue will come out July 1, so please submit articles, ideas and feedback by June 20th to ThePintoPost@gmail.com or through this Google Form.

Fertility Control Program Gallops Past More Milestones

Join us in celebrating important new milestones in the fertility control program. Dedicated volunteers have administered over 2,000 treatments in a little more than one year and there’s an exciting announcement from AWHC and the Nevada Department of Agriculture.

Special thanks this month to the all the dedicated, incredible volunteers who make this program happen. Their dedication and love for the horses shines through their hard work. Thank YOU.

Local Happenings

The Virginia Range groups had a lot of exciting updates this month, from LRTC training classes resuming on a limit basis, to a new Facebook group dedicated to a rescued VR foal, to an exciting announcement from LBL Equine and so much more!

Monthly Highlights

Every month, the Pinto Post highlights the stories of the amazing horses who live on the Virginia Range and local volunteers working so hard to keep them wild and free. This month, we’re pleased to spotlight Margaret Dziolek, a dedicated documenter and volunteer.

May was also Burro Awareness Month! While the Virginia Range does not have any burros, there is one special “fun uncle” on the range. Read more about Milton below!

Happy Tails Rescues

Foaling season almost always means a busy time for the LRTC’s Technical Large Rescue Team and that certainly was true this month. From a separated foal to stallions stuck where they are not supposed to be, the TLAR team has seen it all this month. Read their stories here.

Please use the above number if you see horses or foals injured, sick, or at risk. Where does your call go? Your call goes to a 24/7 answering service that will connect with an on-call volunteer. From there volunteers, proper agencies and organizations will be dispatched. This includes, but is not limited to, local organizations, a large animal rescue team, and the sheriff's office in the corresponding area.
