Fertility Control Update
By the Numbers
Total horses darted since the program began: 1,888.
Looking Back…
As we look back at the final month of the 4th year of the Fertility Control Program, the American Wild Horse Campaign would like to recognize the hard work, perseverance, and incredible dedication of the volunteers that make this program possible. This program is proving that fertility control can be done on a larger scale - conducting population management humanely, on the range.
Onward We Go…
The American Wild Horse Campaign and the Nevada Department of Agriculture signed a cooperative agreement for Year 5 as they continue the Virginia Range Fertility Control Program. The Year 5 agreement began May 1st.
In addition, AWHC’s team continues their partnership with the University of Pretoria for data analysis. Initial data through the end of 2021 is being presented at an International Equine Reproduction Symposium this summer. Data through 2022 is currently being analyzed for publication submission later this year.
Everyone looks forward to continued work in the field of humane, on-range fertility control.
